Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Assistant Dietary Manager to join our dedicated healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily food service operations, including meal preparation, presentation, and service delivery in accordance with dietary plans and health policies
- Supervise and coordinate food service teams to ensure efficient workflow, high standards of hygiene, and compliance with food safety management practices
- Conduct patient assessments to tailor meal plans that meet individual nutritional needs and care plans, including specialized diets such as tube feeding or therapeutic diets
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring quality control, proper portioning, and adherence to food safety regulations
- Manage departmental budgets, inventory control, and procurement processes to optimize resources while maintaining cost-effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with health regulation policies and food service health codes through regular inspections and staff training
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation of dietary services, patient progress, and care coordination
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living or healthcare dietary departments with supervisory or management responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, clinical nutrition practices, physiology, and dietetics
- Experience with patient assessment techniques, care plan development, and specialized diets such as tube feeding or diagnostic evaluation diets
- Familiarity with food safety management systems and health regulation policies related to food service in healthcare settings
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing food service teams, supervising staff, and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Proficiency in managing budgets, inventory control, and food production operations
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to dietary services
- Ability to perform acute care tasks when necessary and adapt quickly to changing resident needs
