POSITION: Custodian-School Campus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred
· Minimum of one year custodial or building maintenance experience preferred
· Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment.
· Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
· Knowledge of building maintenance
· Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures.
· Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift equipment
· Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, classrooms, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms.
- Keep school building and play areas clean.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
- Assist with lunchroom set up including arranging tables and chairs and moving furniture or equipment within building for special events as directed by the campus administrator or facilities director.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Report repair needs to the campus administrator.
- Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
· Lifts/carries 30 pounds frequently, 40-50 pounds occasionally, more than 50 pounds occasionally with assistance. Pushing/pulling 10-40 pounds sporadically. Climb ladders, work in high places, work in cramped quarters and distinguish primary colors. Works in inclement weather. Demanding physical conditions. Must be able to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous environments.
