Position Summary
The Commercial Roofing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations for commercial roofing projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across all job sites. This role supervises crews, coordinates with project managers and foremen, and ensures that all work is performed according to company standards, manufacturer specifications, and OSHA regulations. The Commercial Superintendent is a hands-on leader who drives productivity and serves as the on-site representative of the company. The Superintendent plays a key leadership role in scheduling, manpower management, material logistics, and ensuring client satisfaction through consistent delivery of high-quality commercial roofing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage multiple commercial roofing crews and subcontractors on active projects.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to company quality standards.
- Coordinate with project managers and estimators to plan job schedules, manpower, and material deliveries.
- Conduct site inspections and safety audits daily to ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Monitor project progress and provide daily reports to management on job status, labor productivity, and material usage.
- Maintain communication with clients and site representatives to address concerns or changes promptly.
- Train and mentor foremen and crew leaders to maintain consistent workmanship and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot job site issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Verify completion of punch list items and assist with final inspections.
- Ensure proper documentation of work completed, including daily reports, photos, and safety checklists.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability on all job sites.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and subcontractor timing.
- Communicate with the office team about delays, scope changes, or material needs.
- Ensure proper PPE, fall protection, and site cleanliness are maintained.
Job Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of commercial roofing systems (TPO, PVC, EPDM, Modified Bitumen, Metal, etc.).
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and job costing principles.
- Proven ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to enforce and promote a strong safety culture in all field operations.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using mobile construction management tools.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and safely access ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops in various weather conditions.
Daily Duties:
- Daily progress reports with pictures to management
- Clock In Crew
- Conduct Site Visits and Inspections
- Communicate with Project Managers of job performance and progress
- Support and Supervise Foremen and Crews
- Act as the company’s on-site representative for client communication.
