Position Summary
The Site Safety Manager (SSM) for Critical Facilities Solutions is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety programs on mission‑critical projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, client safety requirements, and company standards while supporting safe execution of work in high‑risk environments such as data centers, electrical rooms, mechanical plants, and active critical infrastructure.
The Site Safety Manager acts as the on‑site safety authority, partnering with project management, field leadership, subcontractors, and clients to maintain a zero‑incident culture without compromising uptime, quality, or schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Program Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, NFPA, client requirements, and company safety policies.
- Maintain meticulous records including safety documentation, logs, permits, and inspection records.
2. Field Oversight & Hazard Mitigation
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and audits of active construction areas to identify hazardous conditions or unsafe practices.
- Exercise immediate stop-work authority when necessary to prevent injury, equipment damage, or service interruption.
- Monitor high-risk procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety, Confined Space entry, Fall Protection, and Hot Work.
3. Incident Prevention, Response & Investigation
- Investigate near misses, incidents, and injuries to determine root causes.
- Complete detailed incident reports and implement immediate corrective and preventative actions.
- Serve as first responder for all site safety incidents and emergency situations.
4. Safety Training, Education & Competency Verification
- Lead site safety meetings, subcontractor toolbox talks, and new-hire safety orientation sessions.
- Verify training credentials for workers handling specialized tasks (e.g., electrical safety, fall protection).
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs; ensure subcontractor safety plans align with company and client standards.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Engineers to integrate safety protocols directly into early project planning.
- Interface professionally with clients, third-party inspectors, and regulatory agency personnel.
- Provide regular, data-driven safety performance reports and metrics to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
- Experience: 5+ years of dedicated site safety experience within construction, electrical, or industrial environments.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards.
- Environment: Proven experience managing safety in mission-critical or critical facilities (data centers strongly preferred).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to independently lead safety programs in active, high-risk operational environments.
- Skills: Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Certifications: OSHA 510 / OSHA 500 trainer designation.
- Professional Credentials: CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or equivalent safety credentials.
- Specialized Expertise: Direct experience managing energized electrical work safety and Arc Flash programs.
- Systems: Familiarity with client-driven safety management systems and formal "Permit to Work" workflows.
- Emergency Response: Current CPR / First Aid / AED Certification.
