Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional dining experience in our fine dining restaurant. Will provide parking reimbursement for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality sushi and sashimi using fresh ingredients while adhering to traditional techniques.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to create innovative menu items that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met in accordance with health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
- Assist in training kitchen staff on proper sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
- Provide exceptional service by engaging with guests when necessary, sharing knowledge about sushi types and preparation methods.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in the food industry, preferably within a fine dining restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, and sushi-making processes.
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and the ability to create dishes that accommodate various dietary needs.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in the field of Japanese cuisine.
