Sourcing Specialist
Summary of Position:
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible to support the development and execution of sourcing strategies with a strong focus on manufacturing process, routing, and procurement alignment. This role bridges product, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement functions to ensure that sourced parts and assemblies are the cost effective, manufacturable and meet project timelines and specifications. The focus of this role would be to assist in the growth of the Parts Life Product Department through assisting in quoting, bidding, and award process.
Please Note: This is a full-time, on-site position located in Moorestown, NJ. Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of the role. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the work location or independently relocate prior to their start date. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze engineering drawings and BOMs to ensure components are properly sourced and manufacturing workflow are clearly defined
- Evaluate potential opportunities against Parts Life capabilities to validate the business case in support of company growth initiatives
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to define sourcing requirements and align on material and component specifications
- Work closely with procurement, engineering, and the Director of Product to generate quote responses based on defined routings, technical specifications, and supplier capabilities
- Support the procurement team by providing technical input on part selection, manufacturability, and production methods
- Parner with internal engineering and strategic sourcing teams to validate routing assumptions and adjust workflow based on production feedback
- Ensure that process flows, routings, and sourcing strategies are integrated into ERP/MRP systems accurately and timely
- Participate in cross functional project teams for expanding Parts Life's manufacturing backlog, ensuring sourcing strategies are aligned with design and manufacturing requirements
- Assist in evaluating production costs and identifying opportunities for process improvements or cost reductions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing techniques, materials, and sourcing best practices to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications for Position:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2+ Years of experience in a government contracting engineering, technical procurement, and or manufacturing support role (defense industry preferred)
Skills, Competencies, & Attributes
- Ability to interpret 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material for mechanical parts and assemblies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word), as well as familiarity with ERP/MRP software tools preferred
- Detail-Oriented with the ability to manage multiple opportunities on varying deadlines
- Detail-Oritented with the ability to learn quickly
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Familiarity with federal procurement process and tools (SAM.gov, DIBBS, etc.,) preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to addressing challenges
