POSITION SUMMARY
The Loan Booking Specialist provides operational support for commercial and overdraft loans by reviewing, processing, and maintaining loan records to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. This role serves internal and external customers by responding to loan-related inquiries, performing quality control reviews, reconciling loan activity, and supporting the overall efficiency of the Loan Operations department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Review, quality control, and book new commercial and overdraft loans, as well as extensions and maintenance requests.
- Process loan advances, payments, pay-downs, payoffs, and other servicing transactions accurately and timely.
- Balance and reconcile the Commercial Loan Unprocessed General Ledger daily.
- Complete required SBA reporting and submit loan-related reports within established deadlines.
- Respond to inquiries from customers, loan officers, loan assistants, and associates regarding loan account information and booking status.
- Monitor completed loan maintenance for accuracy and resolve discrepancies when identified.
- Provide backup support to Loan Processing and other designated areas of Loan Operations as needed.
- Maintain procedures, records, and documentation in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
- Comply with all applicable banking regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements and information security standards.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of general office experience preferred; an Associate degree in Administrative Office Systems or a related field may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Previous banking experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This role works in a standard office environment and involves extended periods at a computer, regular communication in person and by phone, and occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
