About the Role
We're looking for a friendly, detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist / Optical Assistant to be the first point of contact for our patients. This role is essential to creating a warm, welcoming experience while keeping our front office running smoothly. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, juggles multiple priorities with ease, and genuinely enjoys helping people.
What You'll Do
- Greet patients warmly and manage a busy front desk with a positive, professional demeanor
- Check patients in and out efficiently, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments
- Collect co-pays, update patient information, and maintain accurate files
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and route calls appropriately
- Coordinate with clinical staff to keep patient flow on schedule
- Order and receive contact lenses
- Help with pre-testing patients when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously without losing accuracy or composure
What We're Looking For
- Excellent multitasking skills — able to manage phones, check-ins, and scheduling all at once
- Friendly, approachable disposition — a genuine people-person who puts patients at ease
- Strong computer skills — comfortable with EHR/practice management software, scheduling systems, and general office software
- Clear, professional communication — both in person and over the phone
- Prior experience in a medical office, front desk, or patient-facing role preferred
- Familiarity with insurance verification and medical office procedures is a plus
- Ability to stay organized and calm during busy periods
