Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our standards of excellence. This role requires a commitment to food safety, attention to detail, and a passion for culinary arts. The Sushi Chef will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes in accordance with restaurant recipes and standards.
- Ensure the highest quality of food preparation and presentation while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to plan menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain proper food handling and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
- Participate in catering events as needed, showcasing sushi creations for special occasions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry, preferably in fine dining establishments.
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in knife skills, meal preparation, and food handling techniques.
- Experience in menu planning and catering is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food service.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or within a dietary department is an advantage but not required.
