Job Summary: We are seeking a dependable and experienced Floor & Carpet Care Technician to perform scheduled floor and carpet maintenance at commercial and institutional facilities throughout Missouri. Our locations include state government buildings, university clinics and facilities, hospitals, and other professional facilities.
This position focuses on periodic floor care, including stripping and waxing/finishing floors, buffing, machine scrubbing, deep carpet cleaning, and wet-extraction carpet cleaning. Much of this work is performed as part of scheduled semi-annual and annual floor-care services.
Because our facilities are located throughout the state, travel is an important part of this position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working at different locations, operating professional floor-care equipment, and completing work safely and to a high standard with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform stripping, waxing/finishing, buffing, and machine scrubbing of commercial hard-surface flooring.
- Perform deep carpet cleaning and wet-extraction carpet cleaning using commercial equipment.
- Complete scheduled semi-annual and annual floor-care services at state buildings, healthcare facilities, university facilities, and other commercial locations.
- Operate and maintain commercial floor-care equipment, including floor machines, buffers/burnishers, auto scrubbers, wet vacuums, and carpet extractors.
- Prepare work areas for floor service, including moving and replacing furniture or other items as needed.
- Select and properly use floor-care chemicals, finishes, cleaning solutions, pads, and equipment for each job.
- Inspect floors and carpets before and after service to ensure work is completed thoroughly and meets quality standards.
- Maintain, clean, and properly store equipment and supplies after each job.
- Follow all safety procedures and facility-specific requirements, particularly when working in healthcare, university, and government facilities.
- Travel to job sites throughout the state of Missouri as scheduled.
- Work independently and as part of a crew to complete projects efficiently and within the scheduled service window.
- Communicate any floor damage, equipment issues, supply needs, or other job-site concerns to management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience with commercial floor care, carpet cleaning, or a similar rolepreferred.
- Experience with stripping and waxing/finishing floors strongly preferred.
- Experience with commercial carpet cleaning and wet extraction preferred.
- Ability to safely operate commercial floor-care equipment, including buffers/burnishers, floor machines, auto scrubbers, wet vacuums, and carpet extractors.
- Knowledge of proper use of floor finishes, cleaning chemicals, pads, and floor-care products.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check as required for access to state government buildings, university clinics, and other customer facilities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites throughout Missouri.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew while maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow job-site instructions, safety procedures, and facility requirements.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing/pulling floor equipment, and moving furniture as needed.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on customer and facility needs, including evenings or weekends when required.
Pay: $22.85 - $27.51 per hour
