Responsibilities
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment efficiently to clean all dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools.
- Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure all items meet health standards.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as needed, including organizing supplies and handling ingredients with proper food handling techniques.
- Support bussing duties by clearing tables, removing trash, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas.
- Handle manual lifting of heavy pots, trays, and boxes safely according to kitchen health and safety standards.
- Maintain the sanitation of all kitchen surfaces by cleaning workstations regularly and adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
- Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen by assisting with equipment maintenance and ensuring compliance with food safety management practices.
Requirements
- Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards within a commercial kitchen setting.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently throughout shifts.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment such as dishwashers or industrial cleaning machines is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of food handling, kitchen health and safety standards, and proper knife skills is beneficial.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting culinary staff and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Previous banquet, catering, hotel, or culinary experience can be an asset but is not required; enthusiasm for hospitality is key.
