A 198-bed, Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region (New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah) is seeking a night-shift Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department. The department operates a team nursing/pod model across 48 beds with flex space, supported by a dedicated social worker and unit educator. Nurses on this unit regularly manage high-acuity presentations — trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation cases — for a patient population that includes ESRD, COPD, cirrhosis, psychiatric, and substance-use presentations, alongside general chest pain and abdominal pain workups.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct emergency nursing care across a broad range of acute and high-acuity presentations, including trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation
- Maintain patient ratios of 4:1 in the main ED and 6:1 in Fast Track
- Operate emergency equipment including defibrillators, rapid blood transfusers, blood warmers, and infusion pumps, plus ultrasound-guided IV placement
- Document care accurately within the facility's electronic health record system
- Collaborate closely with the unit's dedicated social worker and educator to support patient throughput and staff development
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with an ADN (BSN preferred — see allowance below)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care emergency nursing experience
- Direct experience with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation required
- BLS required at time of submission; additional certifications may be completed after hire
- Open to candidates without current New Mexico or Compact RN licensure — must be obtained prior to start date
- Open to relocation candidates
