Sr. LAN Technician

Location

Work location is in the Alexandria Virginia area.

Primary Duties/
Responsibilities

Assist LAN Engineers to install, monitor and troubleshoot Network and applications servers running WINDOWS Operating Systems and other server based systems.
Providing technical support consisting of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting of server, desktops, laptops, and local printers.
Assist tele-work customers, via telephone or e-mail, with connectivity issues.
Maintain desktop PC images for easy of use during installations and troubleshoot and assist on network connectivity issues.
Conduct software patches, driver installations, hardware installs/troubleshooting, etc.
Sr. Technicians are also responsible for resolving complex LAN, desktop client and the IT equipment and application issues for users.
Other duties include installing service patches and fixes, assisting the Data Telecommunications Group, as needed, with switch, router, and WAN installation and configurations.

Experience

Senior LAN Technician shall have at least 5 years experience with microcomputers, including three years working with LAN environments with Windows NT/2000/2003 operating systems and Ethernet topologies. One year of which the candidate has been responsible for monitoring and installation of WINDOWS servers.

This experience must include:

Recognizing and resolving system hardware (PC, printers, CD ROMs, scanners, modems, etc.) and standard WINDOWS software problems
Use of hardware test and diagnostic routines, analysis of the results, and implementing repair solutions
Implementing recovery procedures such as retrieval of data from a faulty drive
Assembly, configuration and troubleshooting of PCs

Information technology or computer learning school education may be substituted for up to one year on-the-job experience.
