Tang Modern Asian Bistro is a new restaurant concept aiming to bring a high standard of service and quality to the Asian food scene in Durham. We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and embody a spirit of success backed by hard work.
As a Service Assistant at Tang, you are the backbone of the dining room. You will work closely with our server team to ensure the restaurant maintains a pristine appearance and that our guests experience seamless, attentive service from the moment they are seated until they depart.
Responsibilities:
- Table Preparation: Reset tables with precision according to Tang’s aesthetic standards (including proper placement of chopsticks, glassware, and linens) to ensure a "new restaurant" feel for every guest.
- Dining Room Flow: Clear used plates, glassware, and utensils (pre-bussing) during the meal to maintain a clean and spacious dining environment for our guests.
- Attentive Support: Assist servers by providing water service, refilling beverages, and anticipating guest needs before they are voiced.
- Sanitation & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe dining area, including floors and service stations; promptly handle spills or debris to ensure a polished atmosphere.
- Efficiency: Transport used dishware to the kitchen efficiently and organized, assisting the heart-of-house team in maintaining a steady workflow.

- Professional Presence: A polished appearance and a warm, helpful demeanor when interacting with guests.
- Team Synergy: Strong communication skills and a "team-first" mentality to support the server and kitchen staff.
- Physical Requirements: Able to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs (trays/bus tubs) unassisted.
- Flexibility: Willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume or "upper casual" environment is a plus, but we are willing to train candidates with the right attitude.
