Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (day or night) on a rotating two-week schedule: 3 days on, 4 days off, then 4 days on, 3 days off
- As the railroad is 24/7/365, expect to work weekends and holidays.
Starting Annual Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 based on experience (w/ Railroad operations, management, supervisory, Jockey Driver)
What You'll Do:
As Assistant Terminal Manager, you'll drive the action at the center of our intermodal operations. Your leadership will ensure smooth, efficient movement of freight, delighting customers and keeping trains on schedule. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading ramping and de-ramping of trailers and containers with precision and speed
- Motivating teams to exceed productivity and service targets
- Orchestrating outbound loads to align perfectly with train departures while optimizing empty returns
- Building strong relationships with customers, addressing their needs directly, and maintaining top-tier yard security
- Championing an unwavering commitment to safety for every team member
- Strategically managing manpower, creating schedules, and assigning critical tasks
- Handling full-cycle performance management, from coaching and corrective actions to suspensions and terminations when necessary
- Leading recruitment efforts to bring top talent onto the team
Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent professional experience) required
- Basic knowledge of the railroad industry preferred but not required—we provide comprehensive on-the-job training and dedicated mentorship to set you up for success
- Prior management, supervisory, or intermodal operations experience preferred but not essential; we invest in developing strong leaders
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts constructively and build positive, collaborative team dynamics
- Demonstrated leadership potential and eagerness to grow into advanced managerial responsibilities, including employee development, industry regulations, and compliance standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, plus strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
