About the Role:
As an Onsite SafetyProfessional, you serve as the primary safety authority for major campusdevelopments in the East Region. This dynamic, project-based position involvesdeploying to various client sites for 3- to 5-year engagements to ensurerigorous safety compliance and risk mitigation in high-stakes, criticalenvironments.
You will operate directly from onsite construction trailers,spending 70% of your time in the field providing oversight and 30% on criticaldocumentation. Because construction timelines fluctuate, you must be availableon-site five days a week. Your schedule will vary based on project demands,ranging from standard shifts (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) to extended hoursrequired to resolve safety incidents.
We are actively staffing assignments in Manassas, VA, andSummerville, SC. Relocation consideration will be available for qualifiedapplicants.
What You’ll Do:
Field Oversight & Compliance: Conduct daily site walks to identify hazards, enforce safety protocols, and monitor the General Contractor’s (GC) adherence to EHS practices, regulatory requirements, and owner-specific deliverables.
Documentation & Reporting: Manage comprehensive safety records, including leading and lagging indicators, and ensure all EHS data submitted by the GC is accurate, timely, and complete. Issue weekly EHS summaries and conduct monthly GC EHS evaluations.
Strategic Advisory: Serve as an expert coach and advisor to the site safety committee. Support the construction management team by delivering current data on EHS performance, metrics, and incident management to facilitate informed, timely decision-making.
Risk Management: Assist in the conduct of risk/hazard assessments and participate in significant incident investigations. Promptly escalate non-compliance issues to both the GC and owner’s management.
Communication & Collaboration: Lead safety meetings and ensure relevant EHS information is disseminated across the site. Facilitate daily and weekly safety tours with GC and owner’s representatives.
Project Lifecycle Support: Assist in design reviews across the project lifecycle, including planning, permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover. Contribute to the development of the Data Center Construction EHS Plan (DCCEHSP).
Operational Execution: Oversee the \"Boots on the Ground\" program and participate in progress/schedule meetings where EHS is impacted.
What You’ll Need
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience in critical environments (Data Centers, Healthcare, Nuclear, or similar).
Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in general construction safety and electrical construction, with specific expertise in medium voltage systems. Ability to read/understand architectural drawings and knowledge of construction best practices, building codes, and systems.
Software Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Familiarity with MS Project and contract/lease administration.
