Join our dynamic team as a Fiber Technician and play a vital role in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems that power modern telecommunications networks. As a Fiber Technician, you will be instrumental in installing, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables while adhering to safety standards and technical specifications. Your expertise will help build reliable network infrastructure that keeps communities connected and businesses thriving.
- This is a 1099 subcontractor position. Techs use their own tools and work out of their own vehicles to travel to job sites and perform Fiber to the home Internet installs
- Experience is preferred. However, we are willing to train the right candidate.
Duties
- Install, splice, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables in outdoor environments, ensuring optimal performance of telecommunications networks
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and power tools safely to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas for cable installation and maintenance
- Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify signal integrity, identify faults, and perform network testing procedures
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately execute installation and repair tasks
- Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, trenching, and conduit installation following the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards
- Perform telecommunications cable splicing and low voltage wiring within network infrastructure setups such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including schematics updates, incident reports, and test results to ensure compliance with industry standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in field service roles involving outdoor work with fiber optic systems or telecommunications infrastructure
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, power tools, and construction machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, telecommunications testing equipment, cabling techniques, and network troubleshooting methods
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, schematics, engineering troubleshooting guides, and computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN configurations
- Experience with telecommunications outside plant operations including cable splicing, trenching, conduit installation, and adherence to safety standards like the NESC
- Excellent climbing skills for working at heights on utility poles or structures; physical ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments
- Electrical experience or background in low voltage wiring is highly desirable; construction experience is a plus
- Technical proficiency with diagnostic tools used for fiber splicing and network testing; ability to support technical troubleshooting efforts effectively
- Knowledge of telecommunication systems such as telephony and IT infrastructure components like switches or routers is advantageous

Pay: $1,100.00 - $1,500.00 per week
