Overview
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organized Dental Receptionist to join our private dental practice. The receptionist is the first point of contact for our patients and plays an important role in creating a welcoming, comfortable, and efficient office experience.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, communicates clearly, pays attention to detail, and can confidently manage multiple priorities in a busy dental office.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule dental appointments using electronic scheduling systems (Open Dental)
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently while verifying insurance information
- Handle incoming phone calls with professional phone etiquette, addressing questions and directing inquiries appropriately
- Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation review and updating electronic health records
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and perform medical collections when necessary
- Handle insurance verifications, claims submissions, and follow-up on outstanding balances in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support clinical staff by managing proposed treatment plans documentation
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards
- Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
- Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is not required; however, the ability to communicate in either language is preferred, as many of our patients are Chinese-speaking and may have limited English proficiency
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes and medical billing practices or willingness to learn dental office procedures, terminology, and insurance processes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person
- Friendly, professional, and personable demeanor
- Familiarity with medical/dental terminology, clinical confidentiality policies, and health information management practices
- Proven clerical experience supporting front desk operations in a busy healthcare setting
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative tasks
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
