What You'll Do
As an Irrigation Service Technician, you'll be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation systems while delivering exceptional customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Diagnose and repair sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, pumps, piping, wiring, and other irrigation components.
- Perform seasonal spring startups, winterizations (blowouts), and preventative maintenance.
- Program and service traditional and smart irrigation controllers.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical system issues.
- Identify leaks, coverage problems, and opportunities to improve water efficiency.
- Replace worn or damaged components to keep systems operating at peak performance.
- Ensure systems comply with Michigan water regulations and industry best practices.
- Complete service documentation, work orders, and maintain inventory of parts and materials.
- Communicate professionally with customers, explaining repairs and recommending solutions.
- Safely operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Follow OSHA standards and all company safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working independently while being part of a supportive team.
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years of irrigation installation and service experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation system installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Experience with controllers, valves, pumps, sensors, and backflow devices.
- Ability to read irrigation plans and blueprints.
- Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions.
- Experience with smart irrigation technology and water management systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with Michigan's seasonal irrigation requirements and water conservation practices is preferred.
