The Armed Protection Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of synagogue members, staff, visitors, clergy, and property. This position requires a highly professional and vigilant security officer who can provide a welcoming presence while maintaining a proactive security posture. The Armed Protection Specialist will monitor activities, control access, identify potential threats, respond to emergencies, and help create a safe environment for worship services, religious education programs, community events, and daily operations.
Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct armed security patrols of assigned properties and facilities.

Monitor and protect client assets, personnel, and visitors.

Maintain a visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other criminal activities.

Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and alarms.

Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities.

Enforce client policies, site procedures, and security protocols.

Control access to facilities by verifying identification, credentials, and visitor authorization.

Assist with emergency evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations.

Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responders when necessary.

Maintain radio communication and remain alert throughout the assigned shift.

Provide exceptional customer service and maintain professional interactions with clients, visitors, and employees.

Safeguard confidential and sensitive information.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Active Maryland Security Guard Certification.

Active Maryland Wear and Carry Permit.

CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening.

Strong communication and report-writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior armed security, military, law enforcement, or executive protection experience.

Experience working in faith-based organizations, schools, community centers, or places of worship.

Training in threat assessment, active shooter response, and emergency management.

Familiarity with access control systems and surveillance equipment.
Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour
