Heavy Equipment / Fleet Mechanic
Dofine Construction is a government contract construction company seeking a highly skilled, organized, and motivated Heavy Equipment / Fleet Mechanic to support our operations across federal project sites.
This position plays a critical role in keeping our fleet running efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, highly organized, clean in their work habits, and efficient, with strong experience in truck and heavy equipment repair.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of construction equipment and fleet vehicles
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, semi trucks, and light-duty vehicles
- Service heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid steers, rollers, and related machinery
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Perform all types of trailer repairs, including trailer lighting systems, wiring, and electrical diagnostics
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and accurately document all work performed
- Perform field repairs at remote job sites as required
- Maintain tools, service trucks, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
- Communicate equipment status, repair timelines, and needs with project managers and supervisors
- Work efficiently to minimize downtime and keep projects on schedule
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in truck repair and heavy equipment repair
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Experience with trailer wiring, lighting systems, and repairs
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Clean, professional work habits and pride in maintaining an orderly workspace
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must be insurable under company auto insurance
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government or public works construction projects
- CDL (preferred but not required)
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience performing mobile/field service repairs
- OSHA or other safety certifications
