Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our dynamic mental health and behavioral care team. In this vital role, you will provide direct support to individuals with diverse behavioral health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, and substance use challenges. Duties
- Support clients with mental health and behavioral interventions, utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Collect data on client progress, document medical records in electronic health records (EHR), and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Provide crisis intervention and manage emergency situations using established de-escalation techniques
- Support clients during activities of daily living, including social skills training, special education activities, and client communication
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, or neurodiverse populations such as autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred
- Knowledge of mental health conditions like PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or addiction counseling is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation, EMR/EHR systems, and HIPAA compliance is essential
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required or willing to obtain upon hire
- Strong crisis management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and utilize de-escalation techniques effectively
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement, family collaboration, and team coordination
- Ability to work with youth in various settings while maintaining patience, empathy, and professionalism
