AV Director Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary
The AV Director is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of worship services and church events, including audio, livestream, presentation, lighting, playback, automation, and production systems. This individual works closely with the Worship Leader to create engaging, distraction-free worship experiences while helping develop and train production volunteers. The AV Director is expected to demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in supporting the church's mission and vision.
Primary Responsibilities
Audio & Production
- Serve as the primary Front of House (FOH) audio engineer for Thursday rehearsals and Sunday services.
- Build and maintain console scenes, routing, processing, and audio workflows.
- Manage Waves, SuperRack, SoundGrid, including Auto-Tune, plugin processing, snapshots, and server operation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain audio systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Continually improve production quality and technical workflows.
Playback, Multitracks & Automation
- Program and maintain all Playback sessions, multitracks, click tracks, guide tracks, cues, and arrangements.
- Build and maintain automation for Playback, ProPresenter, console scenes, lighting, and SoundGrid processing.
- Ensure all songs, automation, and service elements are programmed and tested before Thursday rehearsals.
- Collaborate with the Worship Leader on arrangements, transitions, and service flow.
ProPresenter & Media
- Create and maintain weekly ProPresenter presentations.
- Input and manage song lyrics, scripture, announcements, videos, and other media.
- Program and execute presentation automation.
- Ensure all service content is accurate, organized, and prepared before rehearsals.
Lighting & Livestream
- Program and operate lighting for worship services and special events.
- Oversee livestream production using Streamlabs and related platforms.
- Ensure high-quality audio, video, and online experiences.
- Troubleshoot and maintain livestream and lighting systems.
Worship Ministry Support
- Work closely with the Worship Leader to improve worship services, transitions, arrangements, and overall production quality.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve both the musical and technical aspects of worship.
- Support the vision and goals of the worship ministry through excellence in production.
Volunteer Development
- Assist in training, equipping, and supporting production volunteers.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, excellence, servant leadership, and professionalism.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching during rehearsals and services.
Systems & Equipment
- Maintain audio, video, lighting, livestream, presentation, networking, and playback systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and improvements as needed.
- Maintain organized production spaces and technical documentation.
Weekly Expectations
- Prepare all Playback sessions, multitracks, automation, SoundGrid programming, lyrics, media, and ProPresenter presentations before Thursday rehearsals.
- Attend Thursday rehearsals and Sunday services.
- Ensure all production systems are tested and operational before each service.
- Maintain clear communication with the Worship Leader and production team.
- Pursue excellence in production, leadership, teamwork, and ministry effectiveness.
Reporting Relationship
- Reports to: Worship Leader / Worship Pastor
- Collaborates with: Pastor, church staff, volunteers, and worship team members to support the church's mission and vision.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
