The Therapy Institute is a growing private counseling practice dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals, couples, families, and children. Our mission extends beyond the therapy room—we strive to educate our community through accessible, research-based mental health content across our social media platforms.
We are seeking a creative, motivated, and self-directed Social Media Intern who is passionate about psychology, mental health education, and digital marketing. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience within a private practice while allowing students to build professional skills in content creation, branding, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
As our Social Media Intern, you will assist with planning, creating, and managing educational content across multiple social media platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in managing The Therapy Institute's social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other emerging platforms
- Research evidence-based mental health topics and translate them into engaging, accessible social media content
- Create original graphics, reels, carousels, and educational posts aligned with our brand
- Help maintain and organize the monthly content calendar
- Assist with planning weekly content, including:
◦ Monday: Quotes or Myth vs. Fact posts
◦ Wednesday: Psychoeducational content
◦ Friday: Clinician spotlights, awareness campaigns, and practice features
- Research current social media trends and adapt them in a professional and ethical manner
- Gather photos, videos, and other content from clinicians during office visits and events
- Attend team meetings, trainings, and occasional practice events
- Monitor comments and direct messages and assist with community engagement as assigned
- Ensure all content reflects ethical standards, person-centered language, inclusivity, and current psychological research
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Has a strong interest in mental health advocacy and psychoeducation
- Demonstrates excellent written communication skills
- Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Can work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision
- Has experience using Canva and familiarity with Instagram and TikTok (preferred)
- Is comfortable researching scholarly or evidence-based mental health resources
- Is creative while maintaining professionalism and ethical standards
