Breathing Space is looking for responsible, skillful, creative, and caring children's Yoga instructors to teach for the remainder of the 2026 school year.
Have experience with children, but no kids yoga training? We are holding a training December 5-7 in Washington, DC, which will qualify you to teach in school programming starting in January.
Yoga helps students learn techniques for concentrating, reducing stress, and connecting to their bodies in a loving way while having fun and building fitness. As the physical, mental, and social-emotional benefits of yoga for children become more broadly understood, the demand for yoga in a school setting is growing.

Key info:
- Most classes are on weekday afternoons between 3:00-5:30 pm at schools in DC proper, and occasionally nearby suburbs.
- Some classes take place in preschools for children between 2 - 4years old between the hours of 9am-2pm.
- This is an extremely part-time job, with most staff working between 1.5-5 hrs per week; typically 1 class per day for a minimum of 1.5 hrs of work per day.
- There may be additional opportunities during the school day, 9 am - 3 pm, for instructors experienced in teaching very young children - toddlers and preschool, walking-3yrs.

Minimum requirements:
A) Yoga experience. Your application must demonstrate substantial knowledge and education in Yoga.
B) Form children's yoga teaching training/certification
OR substantial experience teaching children in other subjects. Qualified candidates will have completed a children's yoga specialty teacher training course OR be certified to teach Yoga to adults AND have extensive experience teaching children any subject.
While curriculum will be provided, on the first day of employment, candidates must be able to independently plan and teach a kids yoga class that incorporates age-appropriate poses, breathing, movement, games, music, and even art. Classes are taught in a secular format but often revolve around a philosophical or natural theme and always include some form of quiet relaxation.
C) Transportation is required. Must be able to teach in person in the District of Columbia. Some opportunities are metro accessible.
D) Background check is required. All staff working with minors must submit to a criminal background check.
E) Schools may have additional requirements . We follow school requirements for public health protection, including COVID vaccination and testing.
