Job Summary
Seeking a Director of Clinical & Quality Compliance in the DFW and Central region, responsible for overseeing the delivery of clinical services and ensuring that patient care standards are met. Provides leadership and oversees the clinical team and is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing company-wide quality standards and regulations. Ensures compliance with regulatory state, local, and accreditation standards. The role is multifaceted and combines elements of clinical expertise, operational leadership, and strategic planning to align with the goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive clinical compliance strategies aligned with federal regulations such as CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), JCAHO (Joint Commission), FDA regulations, and other accreditation standards.
- Oversee the implementation and management of healthcare compliance programs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), ICD coding standards (ICD-9, ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical law requirements.
- Monitor regulatory updates related to Medicare, managed care policies, and health regulation policies; interpret their impact on organizational practices and implement necessary changes.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify areas for process improvement in clinical documentation, billing practices, EMR/EHR (Electronic Health Records) management, and quality assurance activities.
- Develop training programs to educate staff on compliance protocols, medical terminology, data analysis skills, and healthcare regulations to promote a culture of accountability.
- Monitor day-to-day clinical operations and recommend solutions for improvement to upper management and/or Governing Board.
- Managing patient care standards by ensuring that patient care protocols align with best practices, regulatory, state, and accreditation requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance.
- Oversees the clinical team and implement processes to improve efficiency, productivity, training, and safety.
- Collect, interpret, and report on clinical measures, adverse events, and performance indicators to upper management identifying opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Design, manage, mentor and oversee staff training program, fostering a culture of excellence, professional growth and accountability.
- Collaborates with appropriate clinical quality leadership and/or administrators, department heads, and physicians at contracted facilities to take the appropriate steps to facilitate achievement of quality goals and ongoing patient safety improvement to ensure high standards and quality of care for internal, state and national surveys.
- Updates staff of changes in regulations and/or policy and procedure and assists with staff meetings..
- Completes or oversees that unit audits are completed on a rotating schedule and as needed.
- Provides written or verbal recommendations to contracted facility and area management.
- Ensures that all staff skills checklists and evaluations are completed when due.
Education and Required Credentials:
- BSN or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certification in Nephrology Nursing or Quality preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- 3+ years dialysis experience required
- 3+ years management experience in a clinical leadership role preferred
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and customer service skills
- Demonstrated leadership competencies and adaptability to changes in priorities
- Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team, gain support and input while participating in quality improvement activities
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
