Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced 3rd Shift CNC Working Supervisor to lead and support our production team in a high-volume CNC manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced machinist who can set up, operate, troubleshoot, and oversee multiple types of CNC and automated equipment while keeping production running safely, efficiently, and to quality requirements.
The ideal candidate is a strong CNC machinist who is ready to take the next step into a working supervisory role. You will spend time on the shop floor working alongside the team while also directing workflow, monitoring production, resolving issues, and ensuring that jobs are completed on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate 3rd shift production activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC lathes, CNC mills, broaches, and automated production equipment.
- Ensure machines are properly set up and running efficiently with minimal downtime.
- Assign work and coordinate employees to meet daily production requirements.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixturing, and automation issues.
- Make necessary machine offsets and adjustments to maintain part quality.
- Read and interpret complicated blueprints, drawings, process sheets, and inspection requirements.
- Verify first-piece and in-process production to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
- Work with Quality and other departments to resolve production and quality issues.
- Ensure employees follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
- Train, coach, and provide direction to CNC operators and machinists.
- Monitor attendance, performance, housekeeping, and overall employee productivity.
- Communicate production status, problems, and priorities to management and the next shift.
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts to improve cycle times, productivity, quality, and machine utilization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as required to support production.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with CNC turning and milling equipment.
- Experience with broaching and automated equipment strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to set up and troubleshoot CNC machines.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machine offsets.
- Experience working in a high-volume, production environment.
- Previous lead, supervisor, setup, or senior machinist experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during the 3rd shift.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to train and motivate employees while holding the team accountable.
Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
