Job Description
Davis & Brown is seeking a qualified Environmental Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of analytical laboratory procedures. This role involves handling sensitive equipment and chemicals to analyze environmental samples using EPA-approved methods and Standard Methods. Limited weekend and holiday work may be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform chemical, physical, and microbiological analyses on environmental samples.
- Follow EPA methods and Standard Methods for all testing procedures.
- Prepare reagents, standards, media, and quality control samples.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including spectrophotometers, balances, pH meters, incubators, and autoclaves.
- Record data accurately in laboratory systems and maintain proper documentation.
- Assist with sample receiving, labeling, preservation, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment following OSHA and chemical hygiene guidelines.
- Communicate results or issues to senior analysts and laboratory management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of college coursework in Chemistry, Biology, or Physics OR 2 years of laboratory experience in a science-related field.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
- Background in science is required.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with EPA methods or Standard Methods.
- Ability to work with chemicals and environmental samples using proper PPE.
