Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations.
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring proper storage, stock levels, and expiration date monitoring to maintain compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, reviewing medical terminology, and ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions about medications, explaining usage instructions, and supporting medication administration procedures.
- Support critical care and acute care units by delivering timely medication distribution tailored to complex patient needs.
- Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and documentation of any discrepancies or incidents.
- Follow all safety protocols related to aseptic technique, infection control, and hospital pharmacy regulations to uphold the highest standards of patient safety.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program; prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working within LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or hospital settings; critical care experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and handling sterile medications in an acute care environment.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments requiring multitasking across pharmacy operations.
