A Typical Work Week
We believe the best work happens together.This is a full-time, in-person role at our West Des Moines office. Remote work is not available.
The Senior Content Strategist is responsible for determining which formats best communicate various types of content, identifying ways to increase brand awareness, writing content, and utilizing keyword research in order to maximize the reach and interpretation of content. The Senior Content Strategist should be highly collaborative, a good listener, and be able to work well under pressure.
Top 5 Responsibilities:
- Write punchy, marketing-focused copy
- Integrate marketing practices into content
- Attend and/or lead content meetings with clients
- Assist in managing complex copywriting and marketing projects
- Edit/proof work
Other Responsibilities:
- Developing a solid understanding of the target audience through online and traditional market research
- Developing clear and engaging content that is consistent with the company's brand image and addresses both business goals and consumer needs
- Partnering with marketing and social media teams to identify trends and anticipate needs
- Performing content audits to assess how well existing content is performing
- Performing content gap analyses to determine what type of content is missing and what is needed
- Establishing style guides that specify the writing style and tone needed to create engaging content
- Creating, adjusting, and managing editorial calendars
Required Skills
- Degree in English, public relations, marketing, or communications
- Mac proficient
- 3+ years of previous agency experience
- Marketing background
- Ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy
- Knows and loves grammar (Eagle eye!)
- Comfortable working with conservative Christian churches and non-profits
- Knowledge of and ability to write for churches and accurately represent their message
- Uses good judgment and works with integrity
- Works independently and quickly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to quickly change from one project to another
- Adeptness with learning new apps and software
- Comfortable leading projects and other copywriters
- Attention to detail (seriously – looking for type-A, proactive people)
- Good organizational skills that support the rest of the team
- The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve
- Punctual and dependable
