Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, medication adherence, and overall condition; report changes promptly.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods to ensure safety.
- Maintain detailed care plans and document all care activities accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive environment that promotes mental well-being.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques including heavy lifting and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities supporting their unique needs.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or specialized caregiving training are a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
