Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods to promote safety.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect privacy.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed.
- Administer medications following care plans and document medication administration accurately to ensure proper treatment adherence.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to foster positive mental health and social engagement for residents or clients.
- Maintain a clean environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas, laundry, and ensuring overall hygiene standards are met.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or errands using personal transportation assistance or community resources to support client independence.
- Follow all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification requirements, manual handling procedures, and emergency response plans to ensure safety at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans focused on dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, or support for individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in patient observation, monitoring vital signs, administering medication, and following detailed care plans.
- Hands-on experience with specialized care such as dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or supporting residents with intellectual disabilities supports success in this role.
- Familiarity with patient transfer methods including Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance techniques is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to provide tailored support.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within caregiving environments are crucial for delivering exceptional care.
