Washoe Public House is seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on General Manager to lead the daily operation of our full-service restaurant.
This position is best suited for an experienced restaurant professional who can provide clear leadership, maintain accountability, support employees, protect the guest experience, and take ownership of daily restaurant performance. The General Manager will oversee front-of-house operations and work closely with the Head Chef and ownership to ensure the restaurant operates efficiently as one team.
This is an active management role. The General Manager must be comfortable leading from the floor, assisting employees during service, resolving problems, completing administrative responsibilities, and maintaining consistent standards throughout the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily restaurant operations.
- Manage, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate front-of-house employees.
- Maintain high standards for hospitality, cleanliness, food quality, beverage service, and professionalism.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and assign sections, side work, breaks, and closing responsibilities.
- Maintain a visible management presence during service.
- Resolve guest concerns calmly and professionally.
- Monitor sales, labor, discounts, voids, refunds, cash handling, and daily financial records.
- Review employee timecards and help maintain labor-cost goals.
- Coordinate with the Head Chef regarding reservations, menu availability, service concerns, specials, events, and projected business volume.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, employee documentation, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate manager logs, incident reports, deposit records, and operational paperwork.
- Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, and beverage controls as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, alcohol-service, workplace-safety, and company requirements.
- Monitor the condition and cleanliness of the dining room, bar, restrooms, storage areas, exterior, and employee work areas.
- Report and coordinate necessary maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Support special events, large parties, holidays, and restaurant promotions.
- Step into operational positions when necessary, including hosting, serving, running food, bussing, or supporting the bar.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous restaurant management or strong restaurant supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a respectful workplace.
- Experience creating schedules and managing shift coverage.
- Understanding of restaurant labor, sales, cash handling, inventory, and cost controls.
- Ability to resolve employee and guest concerns professionally.
- Ability to remain calm and effective during busy service periods.
- Working knowledge of restaurant point-of-sale systems.
- Reliable attendance and flexible availability.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours when required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required food-safety and alcohol-service certifications.
Experience with Toast POS, full-service dining, bar operations, inventory management, employee training, and payroll review is preferred.
Compensation and Schedule
- Starting pay: $25.00 per hour

Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, work in a fast-paced restaurant environment, safely lift up to approximately 40 pounds, and assist with active restaurant operations when needed.
