We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lead Cook to join our team in Stafford, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals while complying with all health and regulatory standards. This role requires strong teamwork, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the dignity and well-being of our residents.
- Prepare and cook meals in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements.
- Comply with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state, and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment following all facility policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with peers in a congenial work environment.
- Maintain the utmost compassion and dignity toward residents, adhering to the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Assist in emergency situations, including potential call back during severe weather, evacuation, or staffing shortages.
- Adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and the terms and conditions of employment as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain the highest standards in caring for and servicing the needs of residents and their family members.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate and respectful attitude toward elderly, ill, disabled, emotionally upset, or agitated residents.
- Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must have adequate vision and hearing, or use prosthetics to meet these sensory requirements.
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical examinations as set forth by facility policies.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
