Summary:
ValidaTek is searching for a Senior Registered Communications Distribution Designer to lead the planning and development of an advanced cable infrastructure supporting a large DoD IT infrastructure program providing a common view for all enterprise-wide users.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and planning of enterprise telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure.
- Develop Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs), design packages, and technical documentation.
- Conduct site surveys and infrastructure assessments to gather project requirements.
- Design and maintain Inside Plant (ISP) systems, including fiber, copper, coax, conduit, and cable tray infrastructure.
- Ensure designs comply with BICSI, ANSI/TIA, NEC, UFC, and DoD standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, technicians, and installation teams.
- Review and approve cable infrastructure designs, drawings, and installation plans.
- Support telecommunications modernization, expansion, and lifecycle replacement projects.
- Oversee installation, testing, and acceptance of cable infrastructure systems.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders, project managers, and engineering teams to meet mission requirements.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as an RCDD.
- 3+ years of experience as a senior or lead RCDD in planning and designing cable infrastructure in a cleared DoD environment.
- Performed site visits for data collection and evaluation of telecommunications and building technologies systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes.
- Maintained Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber, and all associated
- Developed EIPs required for installation of cable racks, wiring of racks, and testing required during installation.
- Demonstrates current knowledge on codes and technologies appropriate to telecommunications and building technologies and the design/construction industry.
- Demonstrated outstanding mathematics and IT abilities.
- Must have Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.
- Must have an active Secret clearance.
- All candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications. The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
