Senior Title Abstractor — 20+ Years Experience
WebTitle Agency (Rochester Equity Partners, Inc.) Rochester, NY 14623 · Full-time · On-site · Monday–Friday, standard business hours
We're busy. We need someone who's already good at this.
WebTitle Agency has been a trusted name in title services across the Greater Rochester area for years, and our order volume is growing faster than our current bench can absorb. We're not looking for someone we need to train. We're looking for a veteran abstractor who has already run thousands of searches in Monroe County and the surrounding counties, knows the Clerk's office by name, and can walk into a chain of title and see the problem before finishing the first deed.
If you've spent two decades doing this work and you take pride in turning out searches that are both fast and clean, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
- Run full and current-owner searches across Monroe County and surrounding jurisdictions
- Trace and reconstruct chains of title from public records, including complex and broken chains
- Examine deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, tax records, easements, and court filings
- Produce clear, accurate, defensible abstracts that examiners and underwriters can rely on without rework
- Flag defects, gaps, encumbrances, encroachments, and boundary issues early — before they become closing-day fires
- Update and continue existing abstracts as new instruments are recorded
- Work directly with our title examiners, underwriters, and closers to keep files moving
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation of every search
What We Expect
This is a high-volume production role held to a high accuracy standard. Both matter. We measure both.
- 20+ years of title abstracting experience, the majority of it in New York State
- Deep working knowledge of Monroe County records and recording systems, plus surrounding counties (Ontario, Wayne, Livingston, Genesee, Orleans)
- Command of New York real property law, recording statutes, and the title defects that actually show up here
- Demonstrated ability to carry a full daily order load without accuracy slipping
- Fluency in title abstracting platforms and public records databases
- Sharp written communication — your abstracts should need no translation
- Self-directed. You manage your own queue and hit your dates without being chased.
- High school diploma required
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Legal Studies, or a related field
- Paralegal certification, Certified Abstractor, or Certified Title Examiner credential
- GIS experience
- Prior work in a high-volume title or real estate law environment
What We Offer
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience — we pay for the experience level we're asking for
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Paid time off and holidays
- Flexible hours
- A steady, substantial pipeline of work and a team that respects the craft
Work Environment
On-site at our Jefferson Road office. Casual setting, Monday through Friday, standard business hours. Occasional trips to local clerk's offices and courthouses.
