Surfpoint Recovery is looking for a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist as we grow and expand. Surfpoint Recovery is a cutting edge substance-use-disorder (SUD) treatment center that has partnered with DailyPay for same day access to funds! Employees no longer have to wait until pay day to get their earnings. We are located in Coney Island, Brooklyn NY. We are an OASAS-licensed and CARF-certified Center of Excellence. Surfpoint Recovery offers inpatient detox, withdrawal, and stabilization services, as well as inpatient rehabilitation services for individuals with substance use disorder. Candidates must be able to engage clients in individual and Group Creative Arts Therapy which helps them to identify problems and explore potential solutions, setting realistic goals and implementing strategies that build upon their strengths and motivate further their self-sufficiency and hopefully ultimate recovery.
Candidates must be able to conduct daily individual & group counseling sessions, case management and aftercare planning, crisis interventions, and develop individualized treatment plans & overall counseling. Strong documentation skills and familiarity with OASAS regulations a plus!
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday (10:00am - 6:00pm)
Responsibilities:

Guide patients to create and reflect on art and the artistic process to help increase awareness of self and others, cope with the symptoms of stress, illness, and trauma, and enhance cognitive abilities.

Help patients improve self-esteem, develop more effective communications skills and relationships, gain insight into patterns of behavior, and create new options for coping with problems.

Assess patients interests and creative/expressive goals using knowledge of human development/disease/condition, treatment, healthcare stressors, cultural and family systems.

Plan, organize, and implements individual and group creative arts programs for designated clinical area.

Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of individual and group creative arts therapy interventions and activities, modifying as necessary to achieve goals and improve performance.
Education:

Masters Degree in Creative Arts Therapy (or similar), or
-
Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation (or similar) plus 5 years of relevant experience
License/Certification:

NYS Licensure (LCAT)

Certification by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation or the American Therapeutic Recreation Association
