Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to tailor personalized care plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in Eaglesoft.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with dentist and other team members in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry settings to deliver seamless patient care.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, including familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review.
- Proficiency in using dental software Eaglesoft for scheduling, records management, and billing processes.
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards, anatomy, medical terminology, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Ability to diagnose and perform exceptional scaling and root planning.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively across all age groups, especially pediatrics.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is highly desirable.
