Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, including front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers, following all traffic laws and DOT regulations
- Load, transport, and unload waste containers efficiently while adhering to hazardous materials regulations when necessary
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical integrity and compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads delivered or picked up, and any incidents or maintenance needs
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients during pickups and drop-offs, addressing questions professionally
- Follow safety protocols diligently during outdoor work environments, heavy lifting tasks, and when handling hazardous materials
- Assist in route planning to optimize efficiency while complying with state transportation regulations and traffic laws
Experience
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brake endorsement; manual transmission experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of solid waste management practices and municipal waste regulations
- Familiarity with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws governing commercial driving
- Demonstrated defensive driving skills with a clean driving record; experience in traffic law adherence is essential
- Mechanical aptitude for basic vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor issues on heavy-duty trucks
- Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions; ability to perform heavy lifting safely is required
