Candy Chef Position Opening
Daffy Apple is looking for a full-time candy chef to work approximately 40 hours per week for our afternoon shift. This is a seasonal role which starts ASAP - December 31st. There is opportunity to extend beyond season. This is an exciting opportunity to grow with the oldest caramel manufacturing brand in the state of Colorado. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be comfortable contributing ideas for continuous improvement.
Experience:
Position requires at least 1 (one) year of cooking or baking experience in a commercial environment (restaurant, hotel, hospital, bakery, etc.). Formal culinary training is preferred - Associates or Bachelors degree. Experience in cooking caramel and candy products is preferred.
Position Duties:
- Make caramel, taffy, and other candy products in a food manufacturing environment following specific recipes. This includes cooking for customer orders and some product development initiatives.
- Clean prep area and cooking area as needed.
- Ability to follow formal food safety and sanitation programs.
- Ability to complete documentation for lot and batch control.
- Ability to follow Temperature and Weight calibration procedures.
- Must be able to work unsupervised after complete training. This requires self directed adherence to production, cleanup and documentation.
Position Requirements:
- This position requires at least 1 (one) year of commercial cooking or baking experience.
- Able to lift 50 lb. bags of ingredients repeatedly.
- Able to handle prolonged standing.
- Must work in an organized and clean manner.
- Good mathematical ability related to scaling recipes and general kitchen math.
- Must be able to read and write English fluently.
- Must have good organizational skills, be able to measure accurately, read and understand directions, read a scale for weighed ingredients, read a thermometer, document results.
- Formal culinary training is highly preferred.
- Culinary attire required.
