Overview
Under supervision, the Manager of Advocacy manages One Louisville's advocacy initiatives, including legislative tracking, coalition building, and member engagement on policy issues. This role works closely with Chamber leadership and partners to ensure the organization remains a credible and effective voice on issues impacting the regional business climate.
Duties
- Manage the process of communicating legislative activities and news to members and elected officials.
- Lead research projects and write testimonies, action alerts, surveys, policy statements, formal comment letters, social media content, and event promotional materials.
- Administer and supervise Issue Advisory Committees and task forces.
- Lead the drafting process for legislative updates, state and federal legislative agendas, and legislative outcomes publications.
- Interface with elected officials and staff at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Assist in One Louisville's grassroots efforts, investor surveys, and communications with various stakeholders.
- Lead planning and execution of Government Affairs events and programming.
- Represent One Louisville at public meetings and events; provide reports and updates to departments.
- Prepare talking points, memos, and speeches related to Government Affairs.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, communications, or a related field preferred.
Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of experience in government relations and public policy. A combination of education and experience may be substituted when proficiency is demonstrated.
- Interest and aptitude for public policy and legislative processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with top-level executives.
- Knowledge of political protocols and event logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Certifications: Valid driver's license required.
