The IT Security Administrator is responsible for protecting the organization’s technology infrastructure, systems, and data by implementing, monitoring, and maintaining security controls. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems while proactively identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security risks.
The IT Security Administrator partners with infrastructure, development, and business teams to enforce security standards, support compliance, and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Monitor security tools, systems, and alerts to detect potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, abnormalities, and access violations.
- Maintain security event logs, alerts, and reporting dashboards.
- Ensure endpoint, network, and cloud security tools are properly configured and optimized.
- Actively participate in incident response efforts, including triage, containment, and remediation.
- Administer user access controls, roles, and permissions across systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft 365, D2C platforms).
- Conduct vulnerability scans and track remediation efforts.
- Ensure adherence to organizational security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Secure cloud, network, and on-premise environments (e.g., servers, Active Directory, VPNs).
- Support employee security awareness initiatives (e.g., phishing training, best practices).
- Promote a security-first mindset across the organization.
- Enforce secure configurations across operating systems and applications.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on secure architecture and changes.
- Support internal and external audits (e.g., insurance, compliance assessments).
- Maintain documentation of controls, processes, and security configurations.
- Assist in policy development and updates as security threats evolve.
- Identify gaps in security posture and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Support patch management processes across infrastructure and applications.
- Support role-based access control (RBAC) and periodic access reviews.
- Manage authentication mechanisms including MFA and secure credential policies.
- Support and execute incident response plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and third-party partners during incidents.
- Document incidents, root causes, and remediation actions for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in IT Security, System Administration, or related role.
- Experience with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners.
- Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), networking, and system security.
- Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
- Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud security (Azure, AWS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Ability to respond quickly under pressure during incidents.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proactive, security-first mindset.
