We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Childcare Director to lead our team in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) licensing standards.
Job Overview
The Child Care Center Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This leadership role involves managing staff, developing curriculum, and engaging with families to promote a positive community atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education administration and experience working with students in a childcare or educational setting.
Duties
- Lead and manage all aspects of the Child Care Center, including staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement educational programs that meet the developmental needs of children.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and licensing requirements for childcare facilities.
- Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication and involvement in center activities.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of children at all times, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with staff to create a supportive learning environment that encourages growth and development.
- Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance, and child assessments.
Skills
- Strong background in education administration with a focus on early childhood education.
- Experience in higher education teaching or working directly with students is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to engage with parents, staff, and community members.
- Ability to educate staff on best practices in childcare and early childhood development.
- A passion for fostering a positive learning environment for children and supporting their growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (required)
- Director’s Credential or equivalent as required by the state
- Experience in Leadership role
- Knowledge of state licensing regulations and early childhood best practices
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain upon hire)
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team
- Proficient in administrative tasks, including record-keeping and basic computer skills
