The assistant equipment technician serves in either a training role for full equipment technician positions or as a dedicated lube technician in the field. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
What you’ll do:
- Serves as an equipment technician trainee by providing support and assisting equipment technicians during vehicle and equipment repair.
- Serves as a lubrication technician by traveling to field locations to perform minor repair and preventative maintenance on light fleet and heavy construction vehicles.
- Performs minor repairs to tires, motors, hydraulic systems, brakes, and glass; cleans engines or parts.
- Performs yearly inspections on trucks and other highway vehicles.
- Maintains repair and equipment records.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED/HiSET.
- Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.
Special Working Conditions:
- Job requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
- Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
- Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
