Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and school policies.
- Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and special events while maintaining punctuality.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation, including emergency stop procedures and quick response to traffic changes.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and report any issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with students, school staff, parents, and dispatchers to coordinate routes and address concerns.
- Manage student behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist with loading and unloading students, including those requiring special accommodations or childcare assistance.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle interior and adhere to all safety protocols during each shift.
Experience
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or B with appropriate school bus endorsement or willingness to obtain one.
- Prior experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transportation services preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics is a plus for performing routine inspections.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are an advantage for engaging diverse communities.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting students or handling equipment.
- Familiarity with school policies related to student safety, behavior management, and customer service standards.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
