Position Title: Bookkeeper
Department: Finance
Reports to: Director, Finance
FLSA Classification: Full-time (30-40 hours/week) Onsite, Non-exempt
Salary: $23.67- $25.12/hour
Job Summary: The bookkeeper works with the Finance team in processing accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, and providing financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform accounting transactions such as A/P, A/R, cash receipt in FE NXT, closing entries and reconciliation functions.
- Prepare bank deposits.
- Process cash deposits.
- Provide support for the audit process - Provide support for the audit process by responding to requests for more information, accessing files, and working with the Director of Finance to ensure an efficient audit process.
- Maintain Fixed Asset System: this database is used to record all purchases of fixed assets. By maintaining this system, it allows the Finance team proper documentation for depreciation calculations and for disposals.
- Maintain the First Citizens Credit Card Program by assisting users in reconciliation of their monthly invoices and ensure the FE month end balance is reconciled every month.
- Generate invoices for pledges, sponsorships and others as needed, working closely with the development department staff.
- Process, record, and pay vendor invoices. Reconcile monthly bank statements.
- Process payroll, ensuring a smooth and accurate payroll run each time period. Includes troubleshooting and handling employee concerns.
- Work with the payroll company to ensure we have the information needed for Employee tax filing.
- Maintain office supply inventory for all departments by regularly inventorying the supply room, responding to staff requests, and proactively ordering supplies in a cost-effective and timely process.
- Maintain orderly and accurate paper and digital filing systems that ensure continuity of records that are readily accessible to staff who need them and ensure a smooth audit process.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of principles, practices and ethics of accounting.
- Effective communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Organized and detail oriented.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to react, organize and prioritize within a high pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Adept in working independently with high attention to detail.

Desired Education and Experience
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Bookkeeping experience for (2) two to (3) three years.
- Experience with non-profit accounting is a plus. Experience using Paychex software, FE NXT is a plus.
- Broad computer skills, particularly using Microsoft Office products.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines.
This is an at-will, hourly position. This position is represented by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
