Overview
Join our dynamic construction team as a Part-Time / Temporary Construction Laborer, supporting projects across NYC and Suffolk County. Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and setup of construction sites, including material handling and site cleanup
- Follow detailed construction plans and technical drawings to support project execution
- Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, carrying, and positioning materials and equipment safely
- Support erosion control measures to protect the environment and ensure site stability
- Operate power tools and basic equipment under supervision, adhering strictly to safety regulations
- Conduct routine inspections of tools and machinery, assisting with minor repairs or reporting issues promptly
- Implement OSHA safety standards and workplace safety protocols consistently throughout all activities
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, or other structures safely to assist with various on-site tasks
- Use respiratory protection gear when required to maintain health standards in dusty or hazardous environments
- Support heavy lifting operations and assist with equipment setup or relocation as needed
Experience
- Prior experience in industrial or construction environments is preferred
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding construction plans is a plus
- Knowledge of erosion control techniques and environmental safety practices is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair or maintenance is beneficial
- Ability to work safely in accordance with OSHA safety standards and construction workplace safety regulations
- Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders or scaffolding safely
- Strong manual handling skills with an emphasis on safety and proper technique
Requirements
- Previous construction or general labor experience preferred
- Must have basic construction knowledge and be comfortable working on active job sites
- Must provide and be able to use: Hammer, Tape measure, Steel-toe work boots
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required
- NYC SST certification required (10-Hour SST minimum, where applicable)
- Additional construction certifications are a plus
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Must be physically able to perform general construction labor, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and working outdoors when required
- Reliable transportation to job sites is strongly preferred
