General Description:
Legacy Funeral Homes is a compassionate and family-focused funeral service provider committed to honoring every life with dignity and care. We are seeking a responsible, dependable, and respectful individual to join our team as an After Hours First Responder
Responsible for the removal, care, and transportation of deceased after hours as an on call position. Reliably drives and maintains a variety of company vehicles. This position is on call from the hours of 5 pm - 8 am Monday - Friday and weekends from Friday 5 pm - Monday 8 am. This position will be on a schedule of a 1-2 days weekdays plus rotating weekends and will be paid $142.86 per night for leads and $71.43 for seconds. Must be able to work both weekdays and weekends. Leads go on all calls while on call while seconds only go on calls that require a second person. Great position for someone looking for additional pay.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responds for the removal of decedents at place of death, medical examiner office, or other location.
- Cooperates with first responders, medical examiners, hospital, or nursing home staff to accommodate their processes and procedures.
- Verifies proper identification of deceased, and collection of any paperwork and personal effect.
- For in-home removals, displays courteous and professional interactions with bereaved families, and transports decedent to the funeral homes or appropriate facility.
- Vehicle upkeep includes fueling and stocking personal protective equipment and removal supplies.
- Transportation of deceased to appropriate facilities (i.e., funeral home, airport, or other location).
- If hired, employee must be willing to remove piercings and/or cover tattoos while working.
- Dress code: Shirt and tie are required
Minimum Requirements:
Education – High school Diploma or Equivalent
Licensing – Valid Alaska state driver’s license with copy of driving record
Knowledge Kills and Abilities:
- Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Competently driving safely in all Alaskan weather conditions in all seasons.
- Displays compassion and integrity.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Able bodied
- Proficient lifting 100 lbs frequently, pushing or pulling up to 350 lbs occasionally
- You may be exposed to traumatic scenes and unpleasant odors
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $71.43 - $142.86 per day
