DUTIES:
- Serves as Assistant Supervisor for the Juvenile Center, overseeing facility operations, resident supervision, and security.
- Supervises staff and assists with selection, training, scheduling, discipline, and performance evaluations.
- Assigns and monitors work to ensure compliance with facility policies, program guidelines, and health, safety, and emergency response requirements.
- Ensures implementation of Secure Detention and Residential Programs in accordance with court orders, county policies, ACA Accreditation Standards, Michigan Administrative Rules, and Juvenile Center procedures.
- Ensures the safety and security of the facility, residents, and staff by enforcing behavior management guidelines, supervising resident movement, monitoring security systems, and coordinating security procedures and transportation.
- Oversees resident intake, admissions, orientation, case file maintenance, releases, and related documentation.
- Reviews referrals from law enforcement agencies and makes detention intake decisions.
- Oversees resident care by ensuring proper administration of medications and medical treatment plans, processing medical complaints, and ensuring the distribution of adequate clothing, bedding, and other essential supplies.
- Ensures accurate documentation of resident monitoring records, incidents, case management entries, daily logs, monthly reports, and compliance audits.
- Maintains inventories and accountability for security, emergency, program, and communication equipment, ensuring operational readiness and proper distribution, use, and return.
- Serves as the acting supervisor in the absence of senior leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences or related field OR
- 60 semester hours of college credit and a minimum of two years of paid full-time experience working with juvenile delinquents or adult offenders in the justice field, or with clients in the social service/mental health fields.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license throughout the course of employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and a criminal/civil record check as a condition of employment.
- Employee will be fingerprinted and subject to random drug and alcohol testing per the Court’s policy.
- Must have open availability to work any shift and work flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Will be expected to maintain confidentiality, effective working relationships with other employees, and interact effectively with the general public.
