The Director of Manufacturing has to look after all the departments in their scope of responsibility. He or She will have to keep a close watch on all the daily tasks done by his or her direct reports. The Director of Manufacturing will also have to prepare reports, initiate processes and procedures, and identify areas of continuous improvement. In addition to the day-to-day plant operations, the position requires the need to develop a long term (1-3 years) manufacturing improvement and capital expenditures. The Director of Manufacturing will become part of the Management Team consisting of the President, Vice President, VP of Sales, Director of Operations and Director of Finance. The Director of Manufacturing will report directly to the President.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Manage all the daily operations that take place in the scope of responsibilities (Production, Receiving, Maintenance, and Security)
2) Planning of daily, weekly, monthly and annual operational goals from the beginning through implementing them after approval of the Management Team
3) Planning with both Production Managers on a daily basis to move production personnel from both plants in order to achieve daily/weekly production quotas and to hold Production Managers accountable to achieve these goals
4) Coordinate between the different departments, those under direct control, and other departments within the company
5) Assist in decision making with regard to the day-to-day operations of the business
6) Solve disputes that arise between employees or departments and make sure the daily work is not compromised in any way
7) Increase the efficiency within the departments
8) Implement strict budgetary controls and manage the department budgets
9) Review and analyze weekly, monthly and yearly Production and Labor Reports
10) Review and analyze weekly, monthly and yearly Financial Reports and Statements
11) Represent the production department in staff, budget and Management Team meetings
12) Give progress reports to the Management Team
13) Implement strict controls on Recycling (lumber, plywood/OSB, drywall, cardboard, metals, copper wire, paper, plastic, etc.)
14) Develop people skills and talent while developing a strong team and strong bench
15) Assist in personnel relations (wage reviews, personnel policy, employee benefits, grievances, etc.) and develop an employment termination program
16) Ensure that all employee programs are being implemented (Employee/Dept. of the Month, Attendance Bonus, Simplex Stars, Mentor Program, Department Manager’s Meeting, etc.)
17) Oversee all safety guidelines in both facilities
18) Oversee Workers Compensation Program
19) The Director of Manufacturing will be Vice-Chairman of the Safety Committee
20) Maintenance includes all company equipment, machinery and vehicles
21) Security includes the supervision of security personnel, maintaining surveillance equipment, 3rd party monitoring and establishing and implement security policies
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
